2nd Dan Black Belt | Referee B

Thirijambavan Kathirgamanathan is a dedicated martial artist and a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Karate. He currently works as a technician at UPSANDBATTERY in Richmond Hill.

Thirijambavan’s passion for karate began in childhood, and through consistent training, he developed both self-confidence and resilience. Practicing karate also played a role in helping him manage and reduce the effects of asthma over time.

With over three decades of experience in karate, Thirijambavan has been teaching since 2010 and has served as a referee for the past ten years, including two years of officiating in Canada.

In Sri Lanka, he competed in numerous karate tournaments up to the national level, earning multiple gold medals. His achievements include three gold medals at the All-Island Inter-University Championships (2006–2010) and six gold medals at the Eastern Province Karate Championships. He was twice selected to represent Sri Lanka at the World University Karate Championships but was unable to participate due to the conflict situation at that time.

Now in Canada, Thirijambavan aspires to continue growing both professionally and personally — advancing his technical skills, building strong community connections, and learning new languages.
